After the union service, you will be on your way to our excursion to the Rheinau Monastery in comfortable buses. On the way, you will have the opportunity to marvel at the amazing force of the water at the headway of the river Rhine. Just a bit further, the distinctive towers of the monastery church will be in view. The small island on the Rhine River - the Irish monk Fintan is said to have meditated there in ascetic peacefulness - is very special as a place to experience the force of nature. However, the monastery was also inhabited and managed by Benedictine monks. Today, the marvellous monastery church stands in this place. It is still one of the most significant Baroque cultural monuments in Switzerland, open for you with music and joy. Afterwards there will be food and drink on the monastery square. The residential therapeutic community of the Fintan Foundation will delight us with culinary treats from their own cultivation and agricultural operation. |
